Thank you so much to every single person who contributed to our AGB 2021 Fundraiser that funded this project, and for the Matthews family for hosting it!
Safim has had many problems in the past few years with robberies at night because of total darkness. There is no electricity, and no plans for electricity to be installed any time soon. Also, food goes off very quickly due to no refrigeration.
Therefore, several families in Safim have got together to try to bring electricity from the city themselves. Ali's family is part of that group. We funded this project for £986 to buy telegraph poles and electric wiring. 30 local families were very happy to also contribute, and they paid for the cement, workers payment and organised the government documents and contracts to ensure electricity, and pay the taxes.
